DIESTWELL, an independent specialist in engineering and services to the conventional and renewable energy industry, announces the sign of an agreement with SHANGHAI SHENKAI PETROLEUM EQUIPMENT CO, LTD, which is subsidiary of the Chinese group SHENKAI and also a leading company in China for the manufacture of Blow-Out Preventers (BOPs) and Well Control Equipment.
Through this agreement, DIETSWELL will be able to intervene as a re-certifying body of the SHENKAI BOPs. The BOP is a safety valve used on rigs. It is the last resort in case of eruption on a well. The BOP re-certification market has been significantly strengthened by the strict rules which are imposed on contractors after the crash on the Deepwater Horizon platform in April 2010 in the Gulf of Mexico.
On this occasion, Jean-Claude Bourdon, President and Founder of DIETSWELL, stated:
“This agreement is the result of three years of constant contact with SHENKAI. This is part of our strategy to enter the market for the re-certification of BOPs and other HP installed rig equipment. Our API Q2 certification gives us a solid credibility, though it was not enough to allow us to issue a certificate on these extremely strategic devices. This agreement will give us access to OEM technical information and serve as a stepping stone to penetrate this market, which is already significant with rapid development but also poorly structured at the same time. Opening our market activity of inspection and technical audit of FACTORIG is a significant extension of its missions.”
