DETAILS
Client name: NCOC / TECHNIP
Project name: Kalamkas project – Concept rig selection
Duration: 5150 man-days
Project Description
North Caspian Operating COMPANY B.V. (NCOC) acts on behalf of a consortium of seven energy companies: KazMunayGas, Eni, Shell, ExxonMobil, Total, ConocoPhillips and INPEX for Kalamkas Sea and Kashagan Fields. The Kalamkas Sea field is located in the northern part of the Caspian Sea approximately 130km south-west of the Kashagan field. The nearest land is Buzachi Peninsula located ~60km away in South-East direction from Kalamkas.
The Kalamkas development is based on a full offshore treatment scheme built on an artificial island. The artificial island concept contains both a drilling facilities and production facilities. Peripheral water injection wells will be required with all produced water being re-injected. Production wells will be gas lifted and excess produced gas will be injected into the reservoir. The offshore island treats the oil to export specification and exports to onshore facilities near the KTO storage facilities at Karazhanbas (~25km from landfall).
TECHNIP has been in charge of the engineering of the production facilities while DOLFINES designed the drilling ones.
Activities / Tasks and Solutions developed by Dolfines
Several concepts have been explored, both for the drilling and the production facilities. Some of them have been mitigated or combined to study all available options. Among them, artificial island, gravity base steel structure, mixed solution with artificial island and Tender Assisting Drilling (TAD) to reduce the size of the required island, etc.
Project Results
All of these solutions have been thoroughly studied from a drilling point of view, with rig requirements, interface with the production facilities, logistics, construction steps, etc.
All the engineering documents related to these studies have been issued to the client.
